St. James is a dynamic mission congregation whose purpose is to provide a home in north central Oklahoma for people who are interested in the Orthodox Christian faith. If you are Orthodox, we hope you will become an active member of the congregation. If you are interested in learning about Orthodox Christianity, we welcome you to our community. We are eager to help you explore the ancient Orthodox faith.

St. James is based in Stillwater, the home of Oklahoma State University. Many members of our community live in Stillwater, others in nearby counties. Some of us have been Orthodox Christians all our lives; many of us have become Orthodox at St James in the last five years. In 2009 we purchased an attractive five-acre site, and are developing plans to build on it. For the time being we worship in an easily accessible, rented facility near downtown Stillwater.

The primary leader of the St James community is our priest, Fr. Basil McMurry. He presides at our services, in which we encounter Jesus Christ and worship the Holy Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We offer educational programs for children and adults and seek to provide caring attention to community members in times of sickness and other kinds of need. We have strong lay leadership, but there is room for many more committed, talented people to take an active part in this community.
